What are fillers?
Fillers are injectable materials used to enhance your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume, creating softness, and smoothing away the appearance of lines. Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella are all hyaluronic acid-based fillers, but they vary in the concentration and size of hyaluronic acid molecules.
Where can filler be used?
Fillers can be used for smile lines, marionette lines, cheek bone augmentation, lip enhancement, scars, earlobes, under the eyes, vertical creases in the lower forehead (aka “11’s”), hollow temples, and backs of hands.
How long does filler last?
Generally, hyaluronic acid-based fillers last six to twelve months. In mobile areas such as the lips, fillers may break down more quickly.
What filler is best for me?
There are a vast array of fillers. Some are better for enhancing lips, others are better for cheek hollowing. Some last just a few months; others may last for two years. Dr. Campbell can discuss which fillers are most appropriate for you.
Are there any restrictions prior to treatment?
Like any minor injectable procedure, bruising and/or swelling can occur. Always be prepared to be bruised for up to 2 weeks. If possible, please stop all aspirin and/or aspirin products, ibuprofen, fish oil, or Vitamin E products 10-14 days prior to injection after discussing with your prescribing doctor. Do not consume alcohol 24 hours pre or post- procedure. You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
What can I expect after my filler treatment?
Some bruising, swelling, and lumpiness is normal and may last up to 2 weeks. Patients can apply makeup immediately following the treatment. Swelling is typically the worst two days after treatment. If swelling does occur, apply ice for 15-20 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day.
Filler needs time to incorporate into your body. Dr. Campbell recommends giving it two to three weeks to see the maximum benefits of the treatment. Some patients need more treatments for optimal results.
